Trees and other related topics

I am the subject matter expert, co-host, and co-producer of the podcast Completely Arbortrary. Each week we introduce a new tree species from around the world and dive into what makes it unique. Every episode features a conversation that revolves around the tree and some related topic ranging from a co-evolutionary bargain with ants to urban forest design to even asking the question what exactly is a tree. We discuss the tree’s merits—and its demerits—and end each conversation with a review and rating of 1-10 Golden Cones of Honor. 70% facts, and 100% fun, we aim to show how undeniably fascinating trees are, while reminding everyone that your cones are you own.

Tree Walks

Trees are my passion, and there are few things I like better than sharing that passion with others. I partner with different organizations all the time and put on events of my own and through the podcast. They pop up all the time, so head over to the Goings-On page for the most up to date list of things that I’m getting up to. If you want to get more information, or want to partner with me, feel free to reach out.

You can also sign up for my newsletter to keep up with new fun things, or follow along on social media.

Consultation and reporting

I am available for consulting and reporting on a number of arboricultural topics including risk assessment, general inventory and analysis, management recommendations, and tree preservation reporting. If you have a question about your trees, getting permits in Portland, or report writing for any number of projects, I take on clients when I have available time. Feel free to contact me with questions or to see if I am the right fit for your project.

All sorts of other stuff

I get up to a lot of stuff outside of tree things! I very often sneak out of the city and find a wilderness to explore whether that is by foot, by truck, or by bike. I also play a lot of ultimate and disc golf, and I tend to keep myself busy otherwise with wood working projects, gardening, or keeping up with my friends and family and their goings-on. So keep an eye out, and say hi.
